What This Is (And Isn't)

The noise around AI is deafening.

Depending on who you listen to, AI is either going to solve all of humanity's problems by Tuesday or destroy the job market by Friday.

I started The Em Dash to find the quiet space in between.

I want to disconnect the hype from the utility and figure out how these tools actually fit into our work and lives.

Who Am I?

I have always been the person who wants to know how things work. Technology isn't just my career; it’s my passion.

Professionally, I lead AI enablement initiatives. That’s a fancy way of saying my job is to help people navigate the turbulence of this new technology. I spend my days driving adoption, running workshops, and helping businesses solve boring, real-world problems with AI.

But I’m also a hobbyist. When I clock out, I’m still testing new models and tinkering with tools just to see what they can do.

This dual perspective is what defines this site. I look at AI through two lenses: the enthusiast who loves the tech, and the pragmatist who needs to know if it's actually business-ready.

What You Can Expect

I’m learning in public. I treat this site as a lab notebook for my experiments. You’ll see:

  • The "Hobby vs. Business" Filter: Just because a tool is cool doesn't mean it's useful. I’ll break down which tools are fun for a Saturday morning project, and which ones are actually robust enough to trust with your business data.
  • Workflows, Not Just Prompts: I prefer getting my hands dirty with the implementation. It’s not enough to ask a chatbot a question; I want to figure out how we actually wire these tools into our daily work to make life easier.
  • The "Human" Element: Sometimes AI isn't about ROI; it's about having a "second brain" to review an email so you don't overthink it, or helping you learn a new skill.

I don’t have all the answers. In fact, as fast as this technology moves, some of what I write might be outdated or proven wrong by next week.

But I promise to be honest about what I find. Hopefully, we’ll all learn something along the way—myself included.
